This article will provide instructions on how to assemble and mount your Unlimited Race Kit or Cruiser Kit on a topmount longboard or skateboard deck. Visit Unlimited Support for assembly instructions for Solo Kit and decks with drop-through or recessed truck mounting.
- Insert the 1.5" bolts into your board.
- Locate your angled risers and one 1/4" riser pad.
- Note: You may require more or fewer risers depending on your setup. Always check for wheelbite on any new or modified setup and make any necessary adjustments prior to riding.
- Install the angled risers first with the thicker end facing the tail of your board.
- Next, attach the carbon baseplate on top of the angled risers.
- Place the 1/4" risers on top of the plate (see note in Step 2 above).
- Now place your truck.
- Before you tighten your mounting hardware bolts, make sure the cables between the motor and motor controller (core) are fully connected.
- Be sure to attach the cable clips to the bolts closest to the tail of the board. These will help keep your cables in place and securely connected.
- Tighten all of your bolts down to finish attaching the baseplate and rear truck to your board.
- Place a single washer on your axle. Then place the conical spacer with the tapered end facing out and away from the truck hanger. When tightened down, the conical spacer will ensure a snug alignment of your motors and prevent them from spinning on the truck axle.
- Serrated lock washers are no longer included with kits and completes. Designed to fit between the motor and the axle nut for added security, these optional washers are recommended only on truck axles long enough to allow the entire nut to engage with the threads. If the serrated washer prevents the nut from fully threading on your axle, please omit the washers from installation.
- Place your axle nut into the provided skate tool then insert into motor cavity while your board is upside down. Flip your board sideways to help guide the nut onto the axle and begin tightening. Do not tighten all the way down just yet.
- Remove the stick from your skate tool and insert the torque bar into the wider end of the tool.
- Note the placement and bend of the wire from the motor. To maintain this placement, hold the wire with your thumb while tightening with the torque bar.
- The beam in the torque bar should reach from one side to the other. This ensures the motor is fully tightened.
- Note: The motor axle nut can also be tightened using any standard torque wrench set to 25 N m (18 ft lb). Do not overtighten. We recommend checking that the nut is correctly torqued before every ride.
- If assembling a Cruiser Kit, simply install the standard Orangatang Caguama wheel on the other axle of your rear truck. If assembling a Race Kit, repeat the above installation process (Steps 7-15) for your second motor.
- Install your front truck and standard Caguama wheels as you would normally on a non-electric setup.
- Double check that all fasteners are tightened securely, test for wheelbite, and you're ready to ride!
